THEME: UNITY, BROTHERHOOD AND RECONCILLIATION PATH TO PEACE
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – July 9,
2015 – IFTAR literally meaning is the breaking of fasting for a Muslim who
performed fast during the month of Ramadan. Usually IFTAR is not only
celebrated here in the Philippines, but the whole world even inside the White
House of the US President function office, they are celebrating yearly IFTAR as
tradition to give respect for Muslims brethren of faith.
This IFTAR ceremony supported by
government and civil society is part of an interfaith religious activities
globally for mutual understanding and mutual respects of every religion of the
whole world regardless of faiths and sect whom we belongs. People’s faith
whether Muslim or non-Muslim should respect other faith and individual belief
base on our, “FREEDOM OF RELIGION OR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM”.
GENNSAN IFTAR, personalities are
presents: Who led by Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera declared by the Kingdom of “RAJA
BUAYAN DATUS” as DATU AWARIS and his Vice Mayor Shirlyn Banasa – Nograles
declared also as BAI AWARIS respectively, other city officials: Kagawad
Rosalita Nunez and Kagawad Brix “Liclic’ Tan are also presents during the IFTAR
celebration, Madame Janeto Jamalul – Tito, PhD, Executive Assistant – CMO –
ICCA, Atty. Guialil Kanda, Dir. NCIF – Gensan, Datu Abdulhamid Mingkung,
Chieftain of Raja Buayan, Ustadz Ibrahim Andang Head of Muslim Religious leader
Gensan base and some officials of the National Line Agencies of Region 12 are
also presents to grace the IFTAR breaking of fast at exactly 6:00 PM July 9,
2015 at the Oval Gym Sport Complex, this city.
The highlights of the IFTAR
ceremony as Dr. Janeto Tito said in her short message, “Breaking of fast IFTAR
is a sharing, thanksgiving and praising of Great ALLAH (God) for humanity.
“Tri-people should have strong unity and bonding together in the pursuit of
genuine and lasting peace”. “Peace is not only local, but in a global
perspective through peace, security and development”, Dr. Tito said. She
further convinced every peace builder who involved in the peace movement, “Let
us unite brothers and sisters for continuing advocacy on sustainable peace,
peace is everyone concern. “In our peace building with other peace builders
must understand and respect other faith and belief”. Peace maker and Godly
people place God at the center of life”, the wisdom advised of Dr. Tito in her
short message.
Mayor RCR has called upon us
faithful together during the IFTAR ceremony, fasting is one of the 5 Pillars of
ISLAM beliefs. Gensan it need spiritual brotherhood amongst its constituent
sharing concerned for prosperity and development, CMO, NCMF and Rajah Buayan
its better for changing of cultural heritage, Mayor RCR said.
Mayor RCR has also instructed
City Housing Unit General Manager Maryanne Bacar to fast-track city project for
Muslim Public Cemetery, so that they could be useful for the decent bury of
dead person of Muslim brethren within the residence of Gensan.
Vice Mayor Shirlyn Banas-Nograles
has also the same views on the IFTAR ceremony it need peace co-existence living
side-by-side with each other in progress and development. IFTAR is a
universally culture and tradition for all Muslims faith. Vice Mayor Nograles
said, she has been 40 years in Gensan acquainted with Muslim brothers and
sisters. What we need to achieve prosperous livable Gensan, we should be united
people of Gensan to achieve that goals.
Atty. Guialil Kanda, Director
NCMF Gensan, “Happy Ramadan to all” tonight celebration is the “THIRD GRAND
IFTAR”. He also remind local officials of Gensan for the project of Muslim
Public Cemetery has still pending in the office of City Housing Unit with-out
action yet up to now. Director Kanda very cautious reminds fellow Muslims, “we
should be united and no one left behind in the pursuit of our goals for peace,
security and development in Gensan”. Dir. Kanda said. He also proposes one
project “GRAND MOSQUE IN GENSAN”. To be funded by individual Muslim who has the
means of resources.
Every Muslim is obligated to fast in the month
of RAMADAN when he/she reached at the age of adolescent as prescribed in the
book of Fiqhee (purification) without excuses if it is in good health. But,
sickly, insane and the old age will be exempted from fasting, sickly and old
age person they are only requiring to feed fasting person as PIDIYA, equivalent
one serving food for Shahoor and Iftar for the whole month of RAMADAN.
