“Do not underestimate
the ill effects of Haze, It’s worsening the already compromised quality of air
that we breathe, imposing health risks to everybody”, Dr. Kadil ‘Jojo
Sinolinding, secretary of the ARMM’s health department.
HEALTH ADVISORY
Haz is a fine dust,
smoke, or light vapor lack of transparency in the air. The one we are
experiencing in the Philippines is caused by the fire that emanated from the vast
Borneo/Indonesia forest fire. This reached Mindanao because of typhoon Lando
(Typhoon Koppu) especially Southern Mindanao, tall mountains of Lanao del sur
and the Sulu Archipelago.
The haze aggravates
the quality of the air that we breathe and some people may experience the
following signs and symptoms namely; eye irritation, itchy and runny nose,
sneezing, dry throat and cough.
we advise the people
to take adequate amount of water, drink cough preparation if cough is
manifested, OTC (Over the Counter) antihistamines for allergic reaction or upon
the advice of a physician. Everyone is encouraged to stay indoors and joggers
should wear protective mask or forgo activities till the air clears.
