System operator NGCP
constantly finds ways to uphold the integrity of the grid. At the start of
every NGCP assesses the efficiency of its operational processes and reviews
its technical performance.
Through the Annual
Grid Operations Mode Analysis (AGOMA) Conference, NGCP polishes its operations
by evaluating the impact of Internal factors, such as new and ongoing
transmission projects, and external factors, like the EL Nino, higher power
demand, and the national elections, on the grid’s performance.
NGCP, through the
AGOMA, also ensures contingency preparedness for the Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao grids through various workshops and discussions on addressing crucial
issues such as low voltage or supply deficiency.
“NGCP emphasizes the
importance of stable power even more this year. This internal coordination
greatly impacts the grid’s performance and ensures that we prepared in terms of
power dispatching and improving grid security,” said NGCP.
“Each grid has its
own nuances, which is further highlightened by the unique challenges each grid
encounters. Our goal is to keep the grid intact and secure despite all these
challenges,” stated NGCP.
NGCP is a privately
owned corporation in change of operating, maintaining, and developing the
country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through “power
superhighways” that include the interconnected system of transmission lines,
towers, substations, and related assets. The consortium, which holds the 25
year concession contract to operate the country’s power transmission network,
is comprised of Monte Oro Grid Resources Corp. led by Henry Sy, Jr. Calaca High
Power Corporation led by Robert Coyiuto, Jr. and State Grid Corporation of
China (SGCC) as technical partner.
